    SUNY Reconnect Attestation Form

SUNY Reconnect is SUNY's free community college program for New York adults ages 25 to 55. Through the New York State Opportunity Promise scholarship, SUNY Reconnect provides free associate degrees in high-demand fields.

The program covers the cost of tuition, fees, books, and supplies after other forms of financial aid, such as New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)/New York State DREAM Act (if eligible based on immigration status), and the federal Pell grant, are applied.

Here are some key details you should know about the SUNY Reconnect program at RCC. Please check:

    1. Enrollment Requirements: You must enroll in 6 or more credits each semester in a qualifying degree, and only courses required of that degree are counted. You can attend either full-time or part-time but must complete your degree within 10 semesters.

    2. Prior Degree Requirements: You cannot have any prior degree from any institution, including Foreign Equivalents to US degrees.

    3. Taking a Break: If you need to take a break from your studies, you may do so for up to one academic year without losing your eligibility. Past one year will make you ineligible for the program. If you require additional time away for circumstances such as military services or medical reasons, exemptions may be granted.

    4. Academic Standing: To keep your award, you must maintain good academic standing according to the college's standards as well as specific program requirements. This means staying on top of your coursework and achieving the necessary grades.

    5. Eligible Degree Programs: The full list of eligible associate degree programs at RCC are Automotive Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering Science, Environmental Science, Healthcare Science, Information Technology, Liberal Arts & Sciences: Adolescent Education (Teacher Education Transfer), Liberal Arts & Sciences: Early Education (Teacher Education Transfer), Math and Computer Science, Nursing, and Occupational Therapy Assistant for the 2025-2026 academic year. These degrees are subject to change.

    6. Maintaining your Major: You are required to stay in an eligible major. If you switch to a major not covered by the program, it will not be paid for under SUNY Reconnect.

    7. Completion of Forms/Applications: You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) or New York State DREAM Act (if eligible based on immigration status) to be eligible for SUNY Reconnect, regardless of anticipated award. If you have any questions about TAP or DREAM Act, please contact Financial Aid at financialaid@sunyrockland.edu or call them at (845) 574-4282.

    8. Certificate of Residency: If you live in a New York State County other than Rockland, a new Certificate of Residency must be submitted each year. You must request and receive your Certificate of Residency from the Treasurer’s Office in your home county. Avoid being billed for out-of-state tuition by timely providing a Certificate of Residency to Student Accounts. If you have any questions in obtaining a Certificate of Residency, please contact Student Accounts at studentaccounts@sunyrockland.edu or call them at (845) 574-4254.

For the purpose of the SUNY Reconnect Attestation Form, you must attest that you have read, understand, and agree to the conditions of SUNY Reconnect, including the eligibility requirements (e.g., age, degree completion, residency, prior degree, etc.). RCC staff members will conduct database checks for all the eligibility criteria. Please note that falsifying records may result in adjudication of charges in the Student Code of Conduct (3n. Dishonesty/Fraud). If you have any questions regarding this form, please email reconnect@sunyrockland.edu.
